Homemade and spicy Pilpelshuma spread from the Tripolitan cuisine - easy to prepare and suitable as an addition to Hraime, Shakshuka or sandwiches

Garlic, 2 heads
Sweet paprika, 2 flat tablespoons
Hot paprika, 1 flat teaspoon
Canola oil, 3/4 cup
Salt, 1/2 flat teaspoon
Cumin, 1/4 flat teaspoon
Ground caraway seeds, 1/4 flat teaspoon
Lemon juice, 1/2 unit
or 0.25 teaspoon lemon salt
Dried “shatta” hot pepper, 5 units
or 1 heaping teaspoon of ground “shatta” hot pepper


1. Place all the ingredients in a blender.
2. Grind until smooth spread, transfer to a jar and keep refrigerated.
