1. Place the chickpeas in a pot, fill the pot with water above the chickpeas and soak for about 12 hours. Check constantly during soaking if there is a lack of water, then add as necessary.
2. After soaking, strain the water and rinse the chickpeas with cold water.
3. Return the chickpeas to the pot again, add water to cover the chickpeas and cook for about 1 hour. The chickpeas produce white foam during cooking - clean that constantly with a spoon.
4. Divide the chickpeas into portions and season each dish with lemon juice, salt, black pepper and cumin to taste. Serve and enjoy!
