Steamed Cabbage with Apples

Steamed cabbage with apples, carrot, parsley and spices - a great combination of flavors that creates an interesting vegan addition to a meal

Onion, 1 medium unit
cut into strips
Olive oil, 3 tablespoons
for frying
Cabbage, 1 large unit
Apple with peel, 2 large units
coarsely grated (preferably green apples)
Carrot, 1 medium unit
peeled and finely grated
Parsley, 1 bunch
finely chopped
Garlic, 4 cloves
crushed/chopped, to taste
Salt, 1/2 flat teaspoon
Black pepper, 1/4 flat teaspoon
Turmeric, 1/4 flat teaspoon
Ground Ginger, 1/4 flat teaspoon
Soy sauce, 1 tablespoon
low sodium, to taste
Sugar, 1/2 flat teaspoon


1. Slightly fry the onion in olive oil until lightly golden.
2. Add the cabbage while stirring until the volume of the cabbage decreases.
3. Add the rest of the ingredients, mix and leave for about 30 minutes over low heat until the cabbage softens. There you have a simply perfect vegan steamed cabbage.

It can be served hot or cold.
