Rice with Chestnuts and Mushrooms

Basmati rice, 2 cups
Onion, 1 medium unit
Canola oil, 3 tablespoons
for frying
Roasted chestnuts, 100 g
cut into cubes
Portobello mushroom, 3 average size units
cut into cubes
Salt, 1 flat teaspoon
Black pepper, 1/4 flat teaspoon
Ginger root, 2 teaspoons
Soy sauce, 3 tablespoons
Water, 4 cups


1. Fry the onion in oil in a pot until golden.
2. Add the chestnuts cubes and mushrooms cubes, and fry lightly.
3. Add the rice and spices (including the ginger and soy sauce), stir, add the water and bring to a boil.
4. Lower the heat and cook for about 20 minutes or until the rice is ready.
