Vegan Grilled Patties

Grilled patties made from brown rice, mushrooms and sprouted legumes for a delicious vegan barbeque!

The Rice
Olive oil, 1 tablespoon
Onion, 1/2 medium unit
Water, 2 cups
Organic brown basmati rice, 1 cup
Thin pink salt from the Himalayas, 2 teaspoons
Black pepper, 1/2 flat teaspoon
Cumin, 1/2 flat teaspoon
Mung bean, 1/2 cup
Brown lentils, 1/2 cup
The Rest of The Ingredients for The Patties
Onion, 1/2 medium unit
Champignon mushroom, 200 g
Portobello mushroom, 1 large unit
Parsley, 1/2 cup
Coriander, 1/2 cup
Seasoning mixture for patties, 5 flat teaspoons
without monosodium glutamate
Paprika, 2 flat teaspoons
Thin pink salt from the Himalayas, 1 teaspoon
Black pepper, 1/2 flat teaspoon
Olive oil, 4 tablespoon
Brown rice flour, 5 flat tablespoons
as needed


The Rice Preparation:
1. Chop the onion and fry it in a pot with the olive oil until it starts to become translucent.
2. Add 2 cups of water, increase the heat and at a boil add the spices and rice.
3. Bring to a further boil, lower the heat, cover and let the rice cook until all the water is absorbed (about 40 minutes).
4. In another pot, boil water and put the sprouted legumes. Let them cook for about 30 minutes until they soften and strain.
5. In the last 5 minutes of cooking the rice, add the sprouted legumes, mix and let it get a little of the brown color of the lentils. You can add a little water and heat until it’s completely absorbed. Make sure it does not stick and mix occasionally.
The Patties Preparation:
1. Chop the onion, mushrooms, parsley and coriander, and mix in a bowl.
2. Add the spices and rice with the legumes and mix.
3. Add olive oil and gradually the brown rice flour, until a sticky mass is obtained.
4. Create perfect vegan patties the size you want (I got about 35 patties) and grill them on both sides. Turn gently so that it does not fall apart (you can also freeze the patties and grill them right away so they do not fall apart).
