Ingredients
Green lentil, 1 cup
Pearl barley, 1 cup
Onion, 1 medium unit
Garlic, 2 cloves
Canola oil, 3 tablespoons
Celery, 1 handful
Salt, 1/2 flat teaspoon
Black pepper, 1/2 flat teaspoon
Cumin, 1/4 flat teaspoon
Boiling water, as needed
Preparation
1. In two separate bowls place the lentils and pearl barley, fill with boiling water, set aside for about 1 hour and strain.
2. Meanwhile, fry the chopped onion in oil until browned, add the garlic and mix for 2 minutes.
3. Fill the pot with 10 cups of boiling water. Add the lentils and pearl barley to the pot, add the chopped celery (leaves + stem) and spices, and cook for about 40-45 minutes until the lentils are soft.

The preparation method also includes soaking. The spices in the recipe are according to personal taste.
