Pickled Onion

Deep taste of onions in a mixture of spices and vinegar

Ingredients

Onion, 4 medium units
2 white and 2 red
Red pepper, 1 medium unit
Water, as needed
5% vinegar, as needed
Salt, 1 flat teaspoon
Sugar, 1 flat teaspoon
Allspice, 2 tablespoons
Bay leaves, 10 units

Preparation

1. Peel and slice the white and red onions into rings.
2. Cut the red pepper into strips.
3. Arrange the onions in a jar alternately (a layer of white onions and a layer of red onions) and the red pepper.
4. Meanwhile, boil the water with the vinegar and spices (ratio of 3/4 cup of water to 1/4 cup of vinegar - depending on the size of the used jar).
5. Cool the sauce, pour over the onion layers and leave for soaking overnight.
